Frequently Asked Questions

The Voters' Compass platform helps voters understand which political parties and candidates align with their aspirations and opinions on key issues.

It works by asking you a series of questions on various policy issues. Based on your responses, the platform will show you which parties or candidates share similar views or align with your interest.

The platform was developed as part of the African Elections project, by Penplusbytes and Voteswiper, for the 2024 General Elections in Ghana.

We include all parties that have been cleared by the Electoral Commission to contest the 2024 General Election. We do not exclude anyone.

The answers are arrived at through our engagement/collaboration with the political parties based on their manifestos and policy positions as political parties and candidates in the election cycle.

The questions are based on the manifestos and public statements of political parties and candidates running in the 2024 general election.

For each question you answer, we compare your position with the answers of the parties and their manifestos and policy positions. If there is a match, we give a point. If you weigh a question twice, there are two points. In the evaluation, the percentage indicates how much you agree with the answers of the parties.

The questions cover a wide range of policy areas, including education, healthcare, economy, infrastructure, and governance.

Yes, you can go back and adjust your answers before submitting for final results.

The questions are selected by political scientists and the Penplusbytes team. They develop the questionnaire and select the final questions.

The results provide an indication of which party or candidate aligns most closely with your views, but the final voting decision is entirely yours.

Yes, the platform is designed to be neutral and objective, reflecting the policies of the political parties based on their manifestos and public positions.

Yes, you can download and share your results on social media or via other platforms after completing the questionnaire.

Yes, the platform does not store personal data or individual responses after you complete the questionnaire. All data is handled anonymously.

Your answers are not linked to any personal identifiers, and no information is stored beyond the current session.
